Volunteering Information:

Places of work

We have roles for both remote and face-to-face volunteering.

We have offices in Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow, all are approximately a 10-minute walk from each station. You will be supporting people in the community, as well as meeting them in different office locations, so you will need to be able to travel between both sites.

Training

Training will be provided and, as part of the Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow Mind induction the following training will be compulsory:

  • Safeguarding Adults
  • Safeguarding Children and Young People
  • Mental Health Awareness
  • Equality and Diversity
  • Health and Safety

Due to the nature of the work, you will need to have an up-to-date enhanced DBS check completed prior to undertaking unsupervised client work.

Why Volunteer at Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow Mind?

Volunteering at HFEH Mind is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the work of a leading national mental health charity. We provide initial and ongoing training, as well as plenty of opportunities for progression within the organisation. You will be treated as a core member of the team from day one and be surrounded by supportive and knowledgeable colleagues fighting for mental health.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

Volunteering opportunities have been a route into paid employment within our organisation for many of our previous volunteers. However, the skills and experiences you will gain are likely to support applications for paid employment within the sector more broadly, as well as further training and education opportunities (e.g., DClinPsych, Social Work or Occupational Therapy training).

We are keen to foster the individual strengths and interests of volunteers. With the support of a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator, as well as the Team Lead, we will work with you to ensure that your volunteering experience is meaningful and valuable, whilst balancing the requirements of delivering the service.

What volunteers say about working with us:

Dana – Safe Space Volunteer, 11 months:

‘I decided to volunteer at Mind to gain experience while I was taking a break from my Psychotherapy training. From day one, I was welcomed warmly into the team and was immediately immersed into the job. The experience I am gaining from this role is more than I ever expected. The regular supervision check-in, clinical supervision, trainings, and general support from everyone in the team has been amazing, I’m never alone and always have someone to turn to.’

Adrienne – Pathways Volunteer, 7 months:

‘Volunteering at HFEH Mind has been a really rewarding experience. I have had the opportunity to deliver bespoke 121 wellbeing sessions and psychoeducation workshops across two projects. This offered me the opportunity to work with young people and adults in an impactful way and has given me hands-on experiences providing remote and face to face mental health support.  The teams I have worked with have been incredibly supportive, while also providing me with high levels of autonomy and trust to deliver the services to a high quality.  This has meant a lot to me, and really makes me feel like part of a team.’

Aaleen – Signposting Volunteer, 11 months:

‘My experience at HFEH Mind has been very rewarding. I’ve had fun volunteering and the team I work with is friendly and helpful. The work I’ve been doing has been straightforward and I really love how positive and kind everyone is.’
