Community Minds

Local Support for Children (5–18) and Parents & Carers.

It’s Not You Who’s Hard to Reach. It’s Us.

Community Minds is a new initiative by HFEH Mind bringing non-clinical mental health support directly into the heart of our communities in Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow.

Our Mission

We believe mental wellbeing support should be accessible to everyone. Instead of waiting for families to find us, we go to them. We’re on a four-year mission to bridge the gap, earn trust, and embed support within the communities that need it most.

How We’re Doing It

Rooted in The Circle:

Our home base is The Circle in South Ealing, a year-round café and safe space offering non-clinical mental health support for children and young people.

Meeting You Where You Are:

We’re extending The Circle‘s vital work beyond its walls, directly into neighbourhoods, community centres, and local gathering spots.

Listening First:

In our first year, we are humbly learning from and collaborating with the incredible grassroots organisations already doing essential work. True partnership is our foundation.

1 on 1 Sessions:

Our 1-1 sessions offer a conversation with parents or carers who are trying to manage the challenges of supporting their child’s  Mental Health and/or additional needs. These are not therapy sessions, but safe, non-judgmental spaces to talk, reflect, and access practical support.

The aim of these sessions are for parents and carers to leave feeling more informed, connected, and equipped to care for themselves and their families.

Co-Designed by You:

Our long-term strategy isn’t created in an office. It’s being built with local families and parents, ensuring the support we offer is truly what the community wants and needs.

  • This project is co-designed with local families and parents and you directly help shape everything to fit what your community really needs.
  • Your voice directs the project, making sure the support grows from your real experiences and ideas.
  • We’re here to listen and speak with you in your language, so everyone feels included and understood.
  • Together, we’re building a system that’s clear, easy to use, and truly made by the community, for the community.
  • We’re committed to transparency and keeping you involved, so you know how your voice influences what happens next.

How can I access your service?

Who We Support:
We support children and young people aged 5 to 18 living in Hammersmith & Fulham, Ealing, or Hounslow, who might be finding things difficult — emotionally, mentally, or socially. This includes young people with SEND, with or without a diagnosis. You don’t need a label to get support — if something’s not feeling right, we’re here.

Are you a parent or carer? Whether you’re supporting your child’s wellbeing, trying to make sense of the system, or just need someone to talk to — we’ve got your back.

How to Get Involved:

  • Want to chat about what support might look like? Get in touch and we’ll talk it through together Get in touch
  • Are you a local organisation? Let’s connect and see how we can work together. Let’s collaborate
  • A member of the community? Tell us what matters to you — your voice helps shape what we do. Tell us what you need

Meet the Team

Akanksha

Parental Engagement Practitioner

Hi, I’m Akanksha – but you can call me Aka, it’s faster and less likely to be mispronounced!

My background is in domestic violence, housing, and immigration casework. Translation: I’m great with people and paperwork.

Now at HFEH Mind, I’m using those skills to build community for parents in West London. I run support groups (for those who need their people) and offer 1-on-1 chats (for those who need a plan).

I won’t have all the answers, but I’m a great teammate to have on your side.

At HFEH Mind, I’m part of the Community Minds outreach project, where we bring non-clinical mental health support directly into communities.

At the heart of my work is a belief in human connection that by listening, collaborating, and creating together, we can make spaces that are more inclusive, supportive, and inspiring for everyone.
